Everyday I go to work I hear the same story from my boss but there isn’t any message or goals. This is the story of the majority of companies but why?
Leaders have to be trained also and when they hear the same story from their boss daily then that is exactly what they portray to the associates. There needs to be goals that associates can relate to.
There isn’t any motivation or feeling compelled to have a great day when the leaders don’t provide encouragement and set goals
In the morning prior to opening hold a gathering and discuss what the daily goals are... We are 2 thousand dollars short of our monthly budget; we have a great sale on computers today that will allow us to exceed our goal if we provide outstanding customer service. Explain the accessories needed to allow the customer to utilize every function of their computer. In essence provide a total solution for every customer.
Use this same opportunity to celebrate victories for the past few days, weeks or month. Positive news is contagious and it also promotes a sense of pride and accomplishment.
When the evening shift arrives they also need to receive the same information concerning opportunities and goals. Discuss what the morning shift accomplished and promote some competition. The morning crew has met 85% of the budget, let’s work together as a team and beat their accomplishments.
It is an easy argument to say we don’t have time to have these meetings. We are talking about 10 minutes of which if you are looking for results then you can’t afford not to have them.
Provide your team with the leadership they deserve, challenge them with goals they understand and above all be there to support them.

How much is an autographed NASCAR victory lane hat signed worth?
While I was at Indianapolis motor speed way in 2008 I was able right next to victory lane when one of Jimmie Johnson crew members threw me his hat. It says "Lowes" on the front, and on the back it says Victory Lane. (these hats are the offical hats they where when they take pictures while in victory lane.) After Jimmie was done taking pictures i was able to go up and get him to autograph the hat. I would love to know how much it would go for? I also have a 2009 hat the says "Kellogs" on it signed by his crew chief.
As is with all sports memorabilia, it is only worth what someone is willing to pay.
