Is it a good idea to sell art and hand-sewn stuff on etsy?

I am into oil and acrylic painting on canvas and I have just recently started making bags and purses. I wanted to know if Etsy was a good website to sell this kind of stuff. I know there are a lot of people who sell jewelery and they seem very happy with etsy.
Does anyone buy artwork? And is there any scope for another seller who makes handmade bags and purses?

Yes definitely! Etsy has really low prices for sellers and lots of people sell art. I bought two original paintings a couple of weeks ago. There are many people who make bags and purses- you will fit right in. I personally sell vintage clothes.
It costs 0.20 cents to list an item for 4 months and then they take 3.5% of it or something like that.
Those costs are really low compared to Ebay or consigning your items somewhere. Etsy is very organized and easy to navigate. Just make sure you have good photos and descriptions.
