Sideline Draft
Drew Henson Week 5 Pass-By-Pass Analysis
-
2 & 7 Play-action Threw nice little pass to TE running a comeback. A little late on the throw, so a DB was able to knock it away.
-
3 & 7 Dropped back, nobody open. Could have ran, but didn't. Stayed in the pocket to long. Got hammered in the back by a DT and fumbled. Recovered by Amsterdam. Ball should have been gone 3 seconds earlier. You can't hold the ball that long and expect to get away with it.
-
2 & 6 Rhein is now down 14-0/ Play-action. Screen to running back. 10 yard gain to the left.
-
2 & 6 Hits WR across the middle for a 12 yard gain.
-
2 & 5 Under pressure, beats the blitz and hits TE perfectly underneath for another 1st down.
-
2 & 9 Hits FB underneath. Excellent run after catch for a 10 yard gain.
-
2 & 6 Floats perfect pass to the WR over the top in the endzone for a touchdown. Beautiful pass, although not a particularly difficult one.
-
1 & 10 Underneath pass to FB for a 17 yard gain.
-
2 & 7 Snap fumbled. Jumped on it for a 3 yard loss. Couldn't tell whose fault it was.
-
3 & 10 Shotgun. Holds the ball forever. Finally fires a strike to a WR crossing about 25 yards downfield. Dropped pass. Showed off his arm strength. The bad part about this pass though is that he had a lowered delivery. His arm dropped slightly, but mainly it was his legs that spread out and got lower as he threw. Much like a baseball shortstop would throw.
-
3 & 2 Dropped back, under great pressure. Hits WR out in the flats. Bad spot, short of the 1st down.
-
2 & 5 Dropped back. Let it fly down the field. Threw it out of bounds.
-
3 & 5 Under pressure, rockets the ball across the middle perfectly into his WR as he was getting hammered. Perfect pass and showed great arm strength. 15 yard gain.
-
2 & 3 Screen to the right. No gain.
-
1 & 10 Blitz coming, throws off his back foot. Hits WR across the middle for 10 yards.
-
2 & 11 Blitz, he avoids one guy, but can't get past the other guy. 8 yard loss.
-
3 & 19 Pressured, steps up into pocket, but a guys gets him from behind.
-
2 & 18 Under pressure, hits TE sitting in the middle of the field. Drops pass.
-
3 & 18 Avoids rush, throws way down field. Nice throw, but the DB knocks it away. I was happy to see him throw a deep pass on target because that has been his major weakness.
-
1 & 10 Play-action, moves around, runs outside the pocket to his right and hits TE coming his way for 12 yard gain. Nice accuracy on the run.
-
1 & 10 Play-action, hits TE running a square in, rifles it perfectly into his chest without breaking stride.
-
1 & 10 Quick drop, slant broken up by CB
-
3 & 5 Shotgun, guns it underneath into his big WR running a slant, WR breaks a few tackles and scores a TD.
-
3 & 13 Shotgun, avoids rush. Throws the ball away.
-
1 & 15 Play-action, avoids two rushers. Finds RB underneath. Nice run after the catch for a 1st down.
-
1 & 10 WR runs a short out, Henson misses him badly outside.
-
2 & 10 Plenty of time, floats it out to TE running a post. DB breaks up the pass that was a little behind the receiver.
-
3 & 10 Rollout to right, no time to throw. Has to throw it away.
-
1 & 10 Nobody open downfield, dumps off to RB in the right flats. 8 yard gain.
-
2 & 2 Two minute warning. Another short pass to the FB. For a 1st down.
-
1 & 10 Shotgun, Throws down the sideline to WR who was well covered. WR should have caught the pass. Nice throw.
-
2 & 10 Drops back, throws downfield. Ball is too high, incomplete. Nobody really open anyway.
-
3 & 10 Plenty of time. Lofts it to WR. Pass interference on the CB.
-
1 & 10 Throws to WR across the middle. The pass was high and behind the WR. Ball tipped up in the air, intercepted. Ball hit the ground, but no instant replay.
Conclusion: More of the same from Drew. He finished the game 17-28 187 yards 2TDs and 1 INT. He continued to show his great escape ability as well as his arm strength and accuracy on any route that works the middle of the field. He continues to struggle with the long passes.
I wish he was in a more wide open offense where I could see him complete more difficult passes. The offense he plays in is mostly short underneath passes to the back and tight ends. He has looked good in this run oriented offense which shows me that he could be a decent backup if Bledsoe went down as long as you scale down the offense and run the ball a bunch which we would do anyway.
He has looked good enough to give me renewed hope in him, but he definitely needs to work on his game. The mental aspect seems to be there, but he still needs to work on his mechanics and holding onto the ball too long. He also has a long way to go as far as consistent accuracy on certain throws as well.

Saints Fans?
Are you guys Proud of the Outstanding rookie season that Robert Meachem had? Watching him sit on the sidelines for the entire regualr season when they should have drafted a defensive player must have been really fun. XD
They got them through free agency. They didnt a waste valuable first round picks on them though. They need to do some draft trades and get a hold some valuable defensive players like The patriots did.
LOL Nice one one x. I enjoyed it as much as the Saints fans enjoyed thier game against the Colts. XD
he was hurt, what can you say? his true rookie season will be this year, although im still surprised as to why they drafted him in the first place, with at least 3 other receivers ahead of him.

Tales from the Saints Sideline $5.74 The New Orleans Saints own a rich history that reflects the unique character of their hometown--always colorful, sometimes sinful, and utterly unpredictable. The Saints are the NFL's lovable Fleur de Losers. They are the league's version of the Chicago Cubs, a team blessed with more colorful stories and compelling anecdotes than victories or championships. They have won just one playoff game in the history of the franchise and along the way set the precedent for bad trades and ill-advised draft picks. Their past is so sordid that owner Tom Benson ordered the first 19 years removed from the media guide. Despite their struggles, the Saints are adored and worshipped by their fans like few other teams in the league. Their diehard followers are resilient, passionate, and eternally optimistic. In Tales from the Saints Sideline, author Jeff Duncan chronicles the flamboyant history of the franchise, its highs and lows, the great coaches and players, and colorful characters that have made it one of the most interesting clubs in NFL history. Tales from the Saints Sideline covers the bumbling early years under freewheeling owner John Mecom, the disappointing reigns of Hank Stram and Bum Phillips, the rise to the NFL elite under Jim Mora and Jim Finks, the misguided and madcap three seasons under Coach Mike Ditka, and the return to respectability under the fiery and headstrong Jim Haslett. Fans can relive the highs and lows and get the inside story from former Saints greats like Mora. Archie Manning, Morten Andersen, and Pat Swilling. Like New Orleans, the Saints have encountered their share of setbacks and problems, but above all, they are never, ever boring. |

The Draft $9.99 An explosive look at the NFL Draft from the inside out that exposes the multilayered feeding frenzy that swarms around America's top college players. The Draft follows a handful of NFL hopefuls through the ups and downs of the 2004 college football season and the predraft process, culminating with the 2005 draft. Among the prospects are Virginia defensive end Chris Canty, who overcomes a devastating early-season knee injury to reestablish himself as a top draft hopeful, only to suffer a detached retina in a nightclub skirmish; and Fred Gibson, a talented but rail-thin Georgia wide receiver who struggles to put on the weight needed to go over the middle in the NFL. It's a complex environment, with college coaches attempting to protect their "student-athletes" from exploitation (while fully aware that they can only remain competitive if they attract NFL-caliber players to their schools), along with sports agents and NFL scouts trying to stay a step ahead of their competition. These parties provide a multi-angled view of the world of emerging NFL talent. The reader follows the season through the eyes of a host of power players and scouts, from veteran agent Pat Dye Jr. to Jerry Maguire clone Jack Scharf, to the coaching divisions of Florida State University and the University of Virginia---headed by longtime Bill Parcells disciple Al Groh. Also central to the narrative are the Atlanta Falcons and executives Rich McKay and Tim Ruskell (now with Seattle), who use a character-based evaluation system to set their draft board. These parallel stories weave together, culminating in draft weekend, to create a gripping and fascinating look at a world few see from the inside. |

Tales from the Cleveland Browns Sideline (Hardcover) $30.21 Ohio coaching legend Paul Brown said he wanted to create "the New York Yankees of pro football" when he assembled the Cleveland Browns from scratch in 1946. Despite his ambition, not even the future Hall of Fame coach could have foreseen ten league championship appearances and seven titles in the team`s first ten years. Since their first game, the Cleveland Browns have come to symbolize power, excellence, and gridiron dominance. Now fans of one of the NFL`s most storied teams will recapture all the excitement and glory of Browns football in this newly revised edition of Tales from the Cleveland Browns Sideline.Cleveland native and veteran football writer Tony Grossi recalls the personalities that sowed one of the NFL`s proudest traditions and the characters who have continued to grow it. Fans will discover the unlikely origin of the Marion Motley trap play, the scout`s inside story behind "the mad dog in the meat market,? the insult that launched Brian Sipe`s rise from a thirteenth-round draft pick to the league`s Most Valuable Player, and so much more. From Jim Brown to Bernie Kosar and up through the modern era, this book captures the colorful characters who wore the plain white uniforms and blank orange helmets like never before. |

Aus Wikipedia. Nicht dargestellt. Auszug: The NBA Draft is an annual event in which the thirty teams from the National Basketball Association (NBA) can select players who wish to join the league. These players are usually amateur college basketball players, but in recent drafts a higher number of international and high school players have been drafted. However, starting in 2006, high school players were not eligible to enter the draft directly after graduating high school. The rules now state that high school players will gain eligibility for draft selection one year after their high school graduation and they must also be at least 19 years old as of the end of the calendar year of the draft. International players who have never played basketball for a United States high school or college are also eligible if they are at least 19 years old. The Draft usually takes place at the end of June, during the NBA off-season. Since 2001, the Draft has been held in New York City. The NBA Draft Lottery is an annual event held by the NBA in which the teams who missed the playoffs in the previous season participate in a lottery process to determine the draft order in the Draft. The lottery winner would get the first selection in the draft. In the current rules, 14 non-playoff teams participate in the Draft Lottery. The lottery is weighted so that the tea...http://booksllc.net/?l=de |

The NFL Draft $1.99 This is the eBook version of the printed book. This Element is an excerpt from Stumbling On Wins: Two Economists Expose the Pitfalls on the Road to Victory in Professional Sports (9780132357784) by David J. Berri and Martin B. Schmidt. Available in print and digital formats. Why NFL teams’ conventional approach to the draft just doesn’t work--and what they should be doing instead. If the NFL draft worked according to conventional wisdom, the greatest surplus value would be found at the top of the draft. However, the data suggests that picks in the top half of the second round have the greatest surplus value. This means teams in the first round, especially at the top, should be making every effort to trade down. They’ve traditionally done the opposite.... |

The Coming Draft $14.99 A frustrating war and an endless occupation. The very real prospect of more conflict overseas. A military stretched beyond its breaking point. The stage is set for the resumption of the draft. Now, in an explosive and provocative book, Philip Gold, a former Marine and a disaffected conservative, reveals why selective service should never come to pass–but might. In The Coming Draft, Gold charts the path that brought us to this treacherous point and posits an “exit strategy” for America to change its course. In candid language and through authoritative research, he uncovers the flaws of forced enlistment from ancient to recent times and suggests serious and more effective methods to protect the homeland. “Plans/reality mismatch” is how Gold describes the Bush administration’s handling of the Iraq war. This conflict’s deadly, years-long duration–with overtaxed volunteer troops–has led to the Marines missing their monthly recruitment quotas by up to 25 percent, soldiers over sixty being called out of retirement to serve, and in some cases National Guard tours being extended to 2031. Though the House of Representatives made a show of voting against the draft idea in 2004, Gold believes that a collusion of neoconservatives and liberals could eventually cause conscription to be reinstated. The neocon argument for the return of universal conscription rests in the expectation that American military presence will need to increase in order to combat the spreading threat of terrorism, while the left wing hopes that the revival of the draft will expand the scope of the debate about U.S. military policy, thereby making American involvement in wars an issue that potentially touches every household. Asserting that selective service has been neither effective nor historically validated, The Coming Draft provides evidence that the Founding Fathers’ concept of common defense differed from our own and allowed for “proper refusal” in addition to service. More damning, Gold insists that starting with the Universal Militia Act of 1791, the draft has been rife with demoralizing corruption and bad faith, whether it was exceptions for civilian slave owners in the Civil War or loophole-laden systems from World War I to Vietnam. Gold’s practical and innovative alternatives include the redefinition of service (to include earthquake and weather-related relief work), and a drastic rethinking of the duties of the National Guard. All this, he believes, must begin with setting limits on any president’s ability to launch an undeclared war. Written with an acute awareness and fierce intelligence, The Coming Draft is an indispensable work for anyone who is, or who might have to be, a soldier–and any citizen concerned about the future of our country. From the Hardcover edition. |

Afl Draft $82.85 High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles The AFL Draft is the annual draft of new unsigned players by Australian rules football teams that participate in the main competition of that sport, the Australian Football League. When the competition was known as the Victorian Football League, the league introduced the first incarnation of a draft system in 1981, where teams had two selections each of interstate players determined by reverse finishing position order. This was introduced as an equalisation strategy in response to the increasing transfer fees and player salaries at the time, which in combination with declining attendances, threatened to derail the league. It was also a result of the failure of country zoning, introduced in the late 1960s, which had led to a systematic inequality whereby the clubs with the best zones, like Carlton and Hawthorn, could dominate over clubs with poorer zones like Melbourne. Draft of a Letter $17.5 From Second Draft : What other people learn From birth, Betrayal, I learned late.   My soul perched On an olive branch Combing itself, Waving its plumes.  I said   Being mortal, I aspire to Mortal things.   I need you, Said my soul, If you’re telling the truth.   Draft of a Letter is a book about belief—not belief in the unknowable but belief in what seems bewilderingly plain. Pondering the bodies we inhabit, the words we speak, these poems discover infinitude in the most familiar places. The revelation is disorienting and, as a result, these poems talk to themselves, revise themselves, fashioning a dialogue between self and soul that opens outward to include other voices, lovers, children, angels, and ghosts. For James Longenbach, great distance makes the messages we send sweeter. To be divided from ourselves is never to be alone. “If the kingdom is in the sky,” says the body to the soul, “Birds will get there before you.” “In time,” says the awakening soul, “I liked my second / Body better / Than the first.” To live, these poems insist, is to arise every day to the strange magnificence of the people and places we thought we knew best. Draft of a Letter is an unsettled and radiant paradiso, imagined in the death-shadowed, birth-haunted middle of a long life.   Praise for Fleet River “A sensibility this cogent, this subtle and austere is rare; even rarer is its proof that poetry still flows through all things and transforms all things in the process.”—Carol Muske-Dukes, Los Angeles Times Book Review |

1961 NFL Draft $71.7 High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles The 1961 National Football League Draft took place on December 2728, 1960. The league would later hold an expansion draft for the Minnesota Vikings expansion franchise, and the Vikings were also awarded the first selection position in this draft. This draft was also the first regular draft for the Dallas Cowboys as they had only participated in the 1960 NFL Expansion Draft that year. The Cowboys held the worst record in the NFL the previous season, but selected second in this draft because of the entry of the Vikings into the league. Rule 5 Draft $79.66 High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles The Rule 5 draft is a Major League Baseball player draft that occurs each year in December, at the annual Winter Meeting of general managers. The Rule 5 draft aims to prevent teams from stockpiling too many young players on their minor league affiliate teams when other teams would be willing to have them play in the majors. The Rule 5 Draft is named for its place in the The Official Professional Baseball Rules Book. The June Rule 4 draft, known as simply the draft, amateur draft, or first year player draft, is a distinctly different process in which teams select high school and college players. Prior to its current incarnation, from 1959 until the creation of the Rule 4 draft in 1965, top firstyear prospects of teams were exposed to the rule 5 draft. This was in some ways an outgrowth of the Bonus Rule that existed in 194650 and 195357. Author: Surhone, Lambert M./ Tennoe, Mariam T./ Henssonow, Susan F. Binding Type: Paperback Number of Pages: 106 Publication Date: 2010/08/19 Language: English Dimensions: 6.00 x 9.02 x 0.25 inches |

1965 NBA Draft $95.59 High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles The 1965 NBA Draft was the 19th annual draft of the National Basketball Association. The draft was held on May 6, 1965 before the 196566 season. In this draft, nine NBA teams took turns selecting amateur U.S. college basketball players. A player who had finished his fouryear college eligibility was eligible for selection. If a player left college early, he would not be eligible for selection until his college class graduated. Teams that finished last in each division, the San Francisco Warriors and the New York Knicks were awarded the first four picks in the draft. The remaining firstround picks and the subsequent rounds were assigned to teams in reverse order of their winloss record in the previous season. Before the draft, a team could forfeit its firstround draft pick and then select any player from within a 50mile radius of its home arena as their territorial pick. The draft consisted of 17 rounds comprising 112 players selected. This draft was the last before the territorial pick rule remained in effect, before being eliminated prior to the 1966 draft. Author: Miller, Frederic P./ Vandome, Agnes F./ McBrewster, John Binding Type: Paperback Number of Pages: 148 Publication Date: 2010/12/04 Language: English Dimensions: 6.00 x 9.02 x 0.34 inches |
