newborns and plush blankets?

Are those soft plush blankets really necessary for newborns/babies? I just wanted to know if it's a must buy thing. Thank you!

The opposite actually. Plush blankets are too bulky to be safe for a newborn and can also be TOO warm. Your baby needs to be cool while sleeping. A warm baby is a SIDS risk and it dehydrates them. Get flannel if you need somethign heavier during the winter, the thin cotton flannel recieving blankets. Get ALOT too. They get spit up on and pooped on etc.
