How to get a good leather jacket for CHEAP?

I find it amazing how easily one can find a great deal if they know someone, have an insider's knowledge or otherwise have some sort of secret. The hard part is finding that information out.

Last year, after having lost some weight, I really wanted to splurge and treat myself to a new, relatively nice black leather jacket (normal length, zip up, no cinching at the bottom), and I found a pretty good deal at Sam's. It was very soft lambskin, but apparentlly the sleeves were the cheaper grade material because the sleeve ripped.

So I got another. And the sleeve ripped on that one too. Lesson learned about that product.

Now a new autumn approaches and I find myself once again looking for a leather jacket/coat. So my question for anyone who can help me is simple: do you have any advice on how to get a good deal on a leather coat?
