Most people own items that they only need during certain seasons of the year. Some Halloween enthusiasts have decorations for haunted houses and scary outdoor displays that are in the way during all other times of the year. Other holidays that require special decorations also take up space and clutter rooms, closets, and more. Having different decorations, sports supplies, and other items underfoot throughout the year can be frustrating. Before you start thinking about throwing away the items you love, and will eventually need, think about taking advantage of mini storage.

Mini storage is the perfect option for storing seasonal items that the owners simply cannot manage to part with. Many people do not consider mini storage because they do not want to take on an additional monthly fee. What they do not realize is mini storage has become extremely affordable as more people need space for storing only a few items during the year. Most areas have a wide variety of facilities that offer mini storage allowing you to pick the mini storage facility that is best for you and your individual needs.

When you have decided to put your seasonal items in self-storage you must first determine exactly how much space you will need. Almost all mini storage facilities sell units by size with the price going up with the size. To save money always pick the smallest storage unit possible. Never pay extra money for a larger unit because you do not want to cram your belongings into it. Always think of the way you usually pack your belongings into closets in your own home.

Once you have gotten a rough idea of how large of a space you will need visit your local facilities that offer mini storage units. Find out whether or not a security deposit will be required and, if a security deposit is needed, the amount. Try to find out the monthly mini storage unit rental fees and whether or not you will be required to sign a contract. If access is restricted to certain times of day think twice before renting a mini storage unit. It is not uncommon to have to get seasonal decoration or sports gear at the last minute. The last thing you want to have to deal with is not being able to get your own property because it is before the opening of the facility or after the facility has already closed.

Find out what sort of security is offered for the mini storage units. Try to find the mini storage facilities that offer the best security features available. Look for facilities that offer access to no one but clients with property on the premises. Also, try to choose a mini storage facility that offers video surveillance and alarms so that you can catch, and track down, any thefts or attempted thefts of your property. Even if nothing ever happens to your belongings you will be able to rest comfortably knowing that your mini storage facility works hard to keep your property safe.

After you have found your mini storage facility and made rental arrangements make sure that you pack your belongings carefully. Even if your mini storage facility offers climate control or electricity to keep your items safe from deterioration simple carelessness can result in disaster. Choose plastic containers over boxes that can get damaged easily. When looking for plastic containers choose containers that are uniform in size since that will make them easier to pack in your small storage space.

When you pack your items pack as tightly as possible. Do not leave room for shifting or breaking. If your items cannot fill a plastic container pack the container with extra padding. Try to choose plastic padding and if you are storing clothes do not forget moth balls and other protection methods since insects might be able to get into your carefully packed containers.

Do not store any chemicals or items that could catch fire. Avoid storing cleaning chemicals, gasoline, or anything else that is dangerous and flammables. Also, place plastic on the ground before packing your containers into the unit. If the items are not packed too high place plastic on the top of the containers.

Taking advantage of mini storage is a great way to keep items needed seasonally safe and secure. If you are tired of tripping over holiday lights and winter skis then investing in a mini storage facility is your best option.

HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!! What do I do about my husband?

I posted a question earlier. But, it has gotten much worse. I am sick of the lies and sneaking around that my husband does. I purchased decorative towels to dress up our bathroom. I specifically told him not to use them. He did anyway. And when I asked him about he showed a casual disregard for my wants and needs and said that there were no clean towels. Well, not only that but I bought some banana bread mini loafs for me to have during the day. When I went to get one I noticed that there was one missing. I asked him if he ate it and he said no. I know this is a lie, because the kids were at school! HELLO! I've taken my kids and left him. I can't live with the deception and sneaking around anymore. I left in such a hurry that I forgot my towels. I just called and told him that I need to come and get them and he said that he is keeping them! Can he do this? I'm so upset over this. They were brand new! How can I get them back?
