Is $4000 to much to ask for a custom 1979 Cutlass?
I have a 1979 custom cutlas and it has all original parts and runs like a champ. I have problems with the clutch but other than that the vehicle is flawless. I got it painted Gold brand new, and I put a custom sound system in the trunk and in the front. In the car I have 2 6x9 speakers with a new pioneer cd player. In the trunk I have it insulated with leather to match the interior and I have a 1200 watt amp in the trunk with the speakers. here is a pic http://www.twitpic.com/4t3i6 . There are 80,000 on it original with new wheels. how much is too much for this car.
I dont mean market value I mean street value because when I first got the car I payed 3200 as is. And I added some stuff to. But someone offered me $5000 on the street for it but then I lost their number and I havent been able to find them. But I want to know the street value.
Brother, I know the car well. Sorry to say, I don't care how much you put into it and with what, its NOT worth Four grand! Even you put that into it with speakers and amps, and what not's, you'll never get it. @ 80,000 miles to boot. If it was 20,000, then I would say you might gave a shot. Its to old, not a classic by collectors standards, plus you can't get parts for it any more and you already saying that you have clutch problems, why would anyone pay $4000?
The best I could see is maybe $1500. Sorry. I've owned over 6 Cutlass's, from '68 through '93 and all where great cars and most went from 180,000 to 400,000 miles! Its like buying a cake, it looks good, but does it taste bad. Look it up net what are the going prices. Most are $550-1800. Sorry.
