You are looking for someone who wants to work for/with you. Don't invest in anyone until they have qualified themselves and they are worthy of your time.

Don't go it alone. You have an upline that is there to help you. If necessary do 3 way calling until you are comfortable with the phone prospecting process.

Generating leads is great, but turning them into distributors and building a downline is far better.

For snowboarding boots, are adjustable laces better or worse than regular laces?

By "adjustable laces" I guess you mean a cable lacing system. These are really fast to get on and off, but are expensive and this is one more thing that can break.

I actually prefer regular laces because I can tighen up a particular section of my boots - make the foot tighter than the top of the boot by putting a knot in between the two sections.
